The Position
This position will be a member of the newly created Concept Development Team that will work on the Concept Stores and next evolution projects.
The Concept Development team will have access and visibility to high level leadership and will work with cross functional teams from across many disciplines in the organization to develop concepts that will be handed off to the business for roll out/deployment.

The Retail Concept Marketing Director will report to the Vice President of Retail Strategy and Innovation. T-Mobile’s Director, Concept Marketing and Merchandising is an exciting and new position that will work both independently and with executive staff and senior leaders within the Retail Channel, Procurement, Corporate Marketing, Promotions, and across the company.
In this position, you will be responsible for developing the overall marketing and merchandising strategy for new distribution concepts and new product/service offerings. Success is measured by how pervasively its work shapes the customer experience, drives sales, and increases profitability.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute marketing plans to position new concepts in the marketplace. This includes setting metrics for success and delivering against those goals.
- Responsible for marketing investment decisions including design and production of concept “store”; and pricing, presentation, and assortment planning of products offered in these concepts.
- Oversee execution and production of concept merchandising decisions including layouts and planorgrams.
- Oversee execution and production of a wide range of marketing activities and materials, including collateral, signage, and electronic media
- Anticipate market/business trends and develop concepts or concept programs accordingly.
- Directs assortment selection process and reviews assortments for balance (mix, key items, core, newness, technology right, timing, etc) and adherence to strategic and financial objectives.
- Introduce new ideas and evaluate the pricing, promotional strategies and the financial objectives of the merchandise to achieve concept objectives.
- Establishes effective vendor relationships and introduces new products based upon the market and trends.
- Understands competitors’ strengths, weaknesses and strategies.
- Develops and owns the concept merchandise plan/forecast based on sound analysis and ensures appropriate actions taken to deliver positive results.
- Establishes collaborative relationships with cross functional partners to ensure concepts are supported by broader support teams.
- Directs, coaches and develops direct reports to ensure goals are met and team members developed – ensuring growth and readiness for the next level position.
- Partner with cross functional teams in support of the overall vision and objectives. Once the concepts are developed and proven successful, this team is responsible for the successful handoff to the broader organization for roll out.
Education/Certifications:
Bachelors degree required, MBA preferred. Leadership program attendance a plus.
Professional Qualifications:
- Proven leadership skills along with 7+ years at the DMM level with an iconic specialty, department store, and/or mass merchant retailer. Or 7+ years relevant Marketing experience
- Must have extensive experience in product and assortment building and an understanding of the business bottoms-up and tops-down, including product development experience.
- Experience and success in building a Merchandise program and exposure to rebranding efforts.
- Highly organized and ability to adapt to quickly changing priorities.
- Successful development of merchandise budgets, strong analytical and financial skills.
- Strong taste level and the ability to interpret current trends, evolving technologies, and develop compelling product.
- Experience working with and leading cross functional teams in merchandise planning and allocation/replenishment, visual, marketing, advertising, and promotions.
- Motivation to meet or exceed plan.
- Proven negotiation skills.
